What should you check before buying a used generator?
Confirm that the nameplate matches your specification, then review hours, prior use, known faults, service history, and available test records. Put the included equipment, inspection terms, warranty, payment, and removal responsibilities in writing.
Condition and history
Hour-meter photographs, previous application, service records, known damage, missing components, and available oil or coolant analysis.
Evidence of operation
Ask what testing was performed, when it was performed, and for the actual report. Agree whether a witnessed inspection or additional testing is required.
The equipment handoff
Location, connection status, dimensions and weight where confirmed, access for loading, included accessories, and the required removal date.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Are low hours proof of good condition?
Hours are one part of the review. Age, previous application, maintenance, storage conditions, faults, and test evidence also matter. Do not treat the hour meter as a condition report.
Is freight or a warranty included?
Only if the written agreement says so. Confirm warranty coverage, inspection rights, exclusions, freight, loading, and unloading before committing.
Can I submit a generator to sell?
Yes. Use the equipment submission page with the make, model, hours, location, known condition, and removal schedule. A submission does not guarantee an offer or sale.
