Why a kW rating is not enough to price a generator
A request for a ‘commercial generator price’ leaves too many decisions open. Start with output, voltage, phase, fuel, operating duty, and acceptable condition. Then state the required delivery date and where the equipment is going.
New equipment and a used unit should be compared with their actual inclusions, condition evidence, and commercial terms visible. An advertised asking price is a starting point for questions; it is not an installed project budget.
A line-by-line generator quote comparison
Mark every line as included, excluded, or awaiting a price. Keep unpriced items visible. A lower equipment quote can still leave more work for your project team.
| Quote line | What to get in writing |
|---|---|
| Generator | Identified make/model, rating, voltage, fuel, condition, hours, and seller. |
| Accessories | Tank, enclosure, controls, battery charger, heaters, and transfer equipment included or excluded. |
| Condition verification | Inspection, test reports, additional testing, and any corrective work. |
| Transportation | Loading, freight, unloading, delivery access, and responsibility for damage. |
| Site work | Removal of old equipment, foundations, electrical work, and fuel-system work. |
| Startup and terms | Commissioning, warranty, taxes, fees, payment milestones, and delivery assumptions. |
When does used equipment deserve a closer look?
Ask whether the specific unit meets the approved specification and whether its records support the condition represented. Put inspection rights and acceptance conditions in the agreement before arranging payment or transport.
Use the same comparison sheet for each option. A used unit that requires extra work or has a difficult removal schedule needs those items priced separately. Do not assign value to an unconfirmed warranty or an accessory that is absent from the quote.
Send a request that can produce a useful quote
Dixiana Power reviews sourcing requests. Availability, equipment price, any sourcing fee, and responsibilities are confirmed for each opportunity. We do not publish a live price list.
- Required output, voltage, phase, frequency, and fuel.
- Application and operating duty, with the approved specification if available.
- New, used, or either; any limits on age, hours, or condition.
- Project city/state, required delivery date, and access constraints.
- Equipment-only or a clearly described additional scope, plus your budget range.
Common questions
Does a generator price include an automatic transfer switch?
Only when the written quote includes it. Ask for the transfer equipment specification and identify electrical installation and commissioning separately.
Can Dixiana quote a generator before my specification is complete?
Send what is known and identify the open requirements. We can review the request, but final equipment selection and terms depend on confirming the specification and the actual unit.
